About Us

Marisa is an experienced Registered Nurse (RN), Certified in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB), and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Marisa earned her BSN at Indiana University and worked in med/surg nursing in Indianapolis where her first child was born. Her birth experience and daughter’s diagnosis of Down syndrome inspired Marisa to transition from med/surg nursing to maternal child health nursing and then pursing her IBCLC. Since moving back to Illinois in 2015, she has over 9 years of experience working in maternal child health - including labor and delivery, postpartum, nursery, and lactation care. Marisa is passionate about supporting mothers, providing individualized care to them and their families, and to help them achieve their feeding goals. 

Marisa enjoys continuing and furthering her lactation education in order to always provide the most up to date and evidenced base care. She is a member of several lactation associations and has taken additional courses/trainings including: "Guiding Bottle Breakthroughs" presented by Rachel O'Brien MA, IBCLC, PMH-C and "The Oral Habilitation of the Breastfeeding Dyad: A Master Class for IBCLCs" presented by Sandra Coulson, MS, ST, ED, COM, Bryna Sampey, IBCLC, RLC, Jennifer Tow, BFA, MA, IBCLC, LMT, CSOM, Sharon Vallone, DC, FICCP

When not working, Marisa loves to spend time with her family - her husband, 3 children, a dog and cat. Marisa also loves to travel, go camping, hiking, and horse back riding. She also enjoys gardening and reading.
